Since its foundation in 1822, the Royal Academy has collected all manner of items concerning both the institution itself and the wider music world, including important collections of instruments such as the antique Viotti ex-Bruce violin by Antonio Stradivari, works of art, prints, manuscripts and original performance materials. The extensive archive is open to the public, run by students of the Academy and plays host to regular lectures, events, one-off exhibitions, tours and demonstrations.
