International Women’s Day: LIVY
Q&A with Lisa Chavy, founder of LIVY.
What inspired you to choose a career in fashion design?
I began my studies in the well known fashion school ESMOD to get a specialization in lingerie. I wanted to understand the body and the curves, but also to master the technique that it takes to craft lingerie. It was during my internship at Dior - when John Galliano was spreading his magic - that I got the idea of creating completely groundbreaking lingerie. His audacity resonated inside me like a revelation! I wanted to offer women something really different; lingerie with personality and signature style, being sexy, but not just that.
Based on your own experience, what advice would you have for women wanting to get into your industry, or start a business of their own?
I created LIVY because I wanted to empower freedom. I wanted to create lingerie that would be more than just lingerie, but a lifestyle mirroring women and who they are. What I strive to encourage is for women to follow their dreams and to be daring in life. Be bold in life, just as you already are.
Which women have inspired you most throughout your life?
I would say all women. I love the way women make choices for themselves and the way they decide to live their lives fully and boldly. I love the fact that they are versatile, according to the place and the moment of the day. I appreciate the way they like to surprise themselves and others.
What do you love most about being positioned in Marylebone Village?
For me having a boutique in London has always been an ambition of mine. It was important to me to find the perfect spot for LIVY. Marylebone Village is elegant, chic, and trendy. It’s very ‘lively’ with a lot of art and culture. It’s simply LIVY.
